Where Kids Play While Parents Recharge.

The Open Door Playhouse is an inclusive, sensory-friendly drop-in playspace for children and teens of all abilities — ages 3 to young adult.

A New Kind of Play. A Space That Should Have Always Existed.

The Open Door Playhouse is not a school, therapy center, or education facility. It is simply a warm, welcoming space where kids can be themselves, build friendships, and enjoy playful connection in a safe environment.

We believe every child deserves a place to play, laugh, and grow alongside peers — regardless of ability. Our trained staff provide age- and needs-appropriate support throughout every visit, so caregivers can relax knowing their child is in good hands.

Built From Personal Experience

I am a mom of neurodivergent twins. My daughter is more typically developing and has access to childcare, activities, and social spaces pretty much everywhere she goes. My son is a different story.

He is nonverbal, not yet potty trained, and lives with auDHD and cerebral palsy. For years, I have struggled to find childcare for him — not in-home care, but the kind of flexible, out-in-the-world childcare that most families take for granted. The kind where you can drop your child off for a few hours and simply breathe. That door has largely been closed to us, not because of who my son is, but because of how the world has been built.

I looked around and realized: flexible drop-in childcare for kids with disabilities essentially does not exist — unless you count the gym daycare, which is not built for our kids. There is no equivalent for families like mine.

The Open Door Playhouse is my answer to that. It is the space I wish had existed for my family — and I am building it for every family who has felt that same door close on them.
